Smart Precinct NQ Limited (SPNQ) is a not-for-profit organisation based in Townsville, Queensland. We deliver events, programs and accelerator services supporting startups, scaleups, SMEs and industry across North Queensland. Many of our programs are delivered in partnership with, or funded by Queensland Government departments and other funding partners.

The kinds of personal information we collect:

We only collect personal information where it is reasonably necessary to deliver our services, manage events and programs, meet funding and reporting obligations, and communicate with our stakeholders.

This may include:

• Name, contact details and organisation details
• Business type, industry sector and role
• Demographic information such as age, gender, cultural or ethnic background (where relevant to priority cohort reporting)
• Information about disability, neurodiversity or accessibility needs (optional)
• Event and program participation information
• Survey, feedback and evaluation responses
• Website usage and analytics data

Why we collect and use personal information

We collect, hold, use and disclose personal information to:

• To Deliverand Improve events, mentoring, programs and services
• Assess eligibility and participation in programs
• Communicate with participants and stakeholders
• Evaluate, monitor and improve our services and programs
• Meet funding, reporting and acquittal obligations
• Conduct research and evaluation (de-identified analysis)
• Promote our activities and outcomes (including use of photos and videos)

How we collect personal information

We collect personal information directly from you when you:

• Register for events or programs
• Purchase tickets or sign up through ticketing platforms (such as Humanitix)
• Complete onboarding, surveys or evaluations
• Subscribe to updates or communicate with us
• Use our website or CRM-enabled forms (such as HubSpot)

Sensitive personal information

Some information we collect may be sensitive personal information, including:

• Cultural or ethnic background
• Disability, neurodiversity or accessibility information
• We only collect sensitive personal information with your consent, and only where it is relevant to program delivery, evaluation, reporting or accessibility support. Providing this information is optional unless otherwise stated.

What happens if you don’t provide information

If you choose not to provide certain personal information:

• We may be unable to register you for an event or program
• We may be unable to assess eligibility for funded programs
• We may not be able to provide accessibility support or tailored services
• Where information is optional, this will be clearly stated.

Disclosure of personal information

We may disclose personal information to:

• To our funding partners (including the Queensland Government and other Government departments)
• Other funding or delivery partners involved in specific programs
• Service providers who support our operations (e.g. CRM, email, event platforms)
• Evaluators or auditors (usually in de-identified or aggregated form)
• We do not sell your personal information.

Overseas disclosure

We use third-party systems including HubSpot, which may store or process data in the United States and other overseas locations. Where overseas disclosure occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure information is handled securely.

Photos and media

By participating in SPNQ events or programs, you consent to photographs or videos being taken and used for promotional purposes, unless you advise us otherwise. Additional consent is obtained for minors. Please contact us directly if you have concerns with your image being captured or ditributed (such as in event and social posts or in our reports and community updates)

You may request access to or correction of your personal information, or make a privacy complaint, by contacting info@spnq.org.
